Does Pickle Juice Break a Fast?
Fasting can be challenging if you feel like you’re depriving yourself during the day, and adding in a little flavor can help to extend the length of your fasting time and ensure success. But if what you’re adding breaks your fast, that’s not good. One thing many people want to add to their daily routine is a little pickle juice. It’s a dash of flavor that breaks up the monotony of endless cups of water, tea, or unsweetened coffee. But does it break your fast?
The answer is no. Because pickle juice only has a couple of calories, it’s safe to add small amounts throughout your day. Make sure you aren’t using a brand that adds sugar (aka sweet gherkins) because that will indeed break your fast. And again – use common sense. Small sips are ok, but chugging a jar full isn’t.
