KARYL’S Always PERFECT Bar-B-Q Spare RIBS

Posted on December 10, 2021 by

These are pork ribs! This method is tasty and lower in calories than the average rib recipe, really YUMMY and practically foolproof! And this recipe will make up to about 6 lbs. of ribs. If you are making more just adjust the recipe proportionately.

INGREDIENT LIST

St Louis cut spareribs -1/4-1/2 lb. per person.

1 10oz bottle of Worcestershire Sauce

Celery salt, onion salt, garlic pepper(or just use garlic salt and course ground black pepper)

I big white onion or 2 small onions

1 or 2 18oz bottles of your favorite Bar b q Sauce- A purist might make their own, a calorie conscious preparer should check the labels, I use KC Masterpiece Original

3 STEPS: Preparation, Cook, Bar b Q

PREPARATION.

You start by preparing the meat.

1. Look at the rack of ribs in front of you.

- cut away any excess fat.

- look on the bone side and cut away any obvious connective tissue

- Rinse the ribs and pat dry

2. Now add the seasoning rub

- Sprinkle lightly on both sides of the rack celery salt, onion salt and garlic pepper allow each to cover the whole rack .

3. Marinate

- Transfer the ribs to a shallow pan and pour the entire bottle of Worcestershire on your ribs

- Cover the pan of ribs with Aluminum foil

- Move the ribs to the refrigerator

- Allow the ribs to marinate for at least 6 hours….overnight is good too.

COOK

About 4 hours before you are ready to eat you begin the “cooking”

1. Rough cut the onion and drop it in a large stock pot

2. Cut the marinated ribs into portion control sizes of your choosing but the pieces have to fit in the stock pot

3. Place all of the ribs into the stock pot with the onions and the marinade dripping off of the pieces.

4. Pour enough water to just cover the meat.

5. Put the lid on the pot and allow the ribs to lightly simmer on the stove top for 90 to 120 minutes. Do not boil.

BAR B Q

The bar b q part takes the least time of everything but oh so important. Turn on your Grill and have it medium hot before you begin.

1. Take the meat out of the stock pot and place on a cookie sheet or tray to transport to the grill. You don’t have to rush to the grill until you are about 45 minutes away from the dinner bell.

2. Place the ribs on the grill, all with the bone side down, cook about 10 minutes. Flip the ribs to cook the meat side…keep a close eye…you don’t want them charred or burned…this meat side may cook faster and need less than 10 minutes.

3. Flip the ribs again so the meat side is up and slather on the bar b q sauce. And allow both the bone side and meat side to cook about 5 minutes each in their Bar b q sauce bath.

4. When you like the look of them, take the ribs off the grill and put them on a huge serving plater for everyone to see the beautiful meal you have created.
